I’m Rod Walker, a realtor licensed with Edge Realty Group, LLC. We’re a full service real estate company in the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Area of Alabama. My hometown is just about an hour to the Southwest of here; Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I’ve lived in the city of Birmingham since early 2009 and I must say it’s been a great experience. This is a very exciting time to be living in this city. Downtown Birmingham and surrounding neighborhoods such as Avondale are undergoing a renaissance that would have been unbelievable to many just a few short years ago. Downtown is becoming the place to live with many new apartment and condo buildings being built and many old historic buildings being renovated. In addition to living space we have a new city park, four blocks long with many amenities only found in larger cities. We have a new baseball stadium where our double A pro team, The Birmingham Barons, play their home games. We now have six craft beer breweries, several of which also offer live entertainment, scattered around the city. We have several five star restaurants operated by renowned chefs. The recently renovated Pizitz building hosts a food hall with cuisines as varied as Ethiopian to Israeli to Hawaiian. The long closed Lyric Theater has been restored and along with it’s neighbor The Alabama Theater, hosts concerts, movies and other entertainment. There’s much more to say but maybe it’s time to visit, and if you’re moving here from elsewhere or just moving to a better place in the area I’m more than happy to help you find your place.
